Motor Control & Industrial Wiring

Course Description

This course will equip trainees with the knowledge and skills required to competently work on motor control, 3 phase induction motors and industrial wiring.This training will afford the participants the opportunity to learn what they can do and should do in order to effectively handle electrical motors, control and wiring.

Pre-Course Requirements & Target group

Trainees within age group 18 years and above that possesses a minimum of 4 credits (including mathematics, English) at SSCE level. OND/HND holders and Engineering graduates requiring technical knowledge within the electrical trade

Course Duration

The course is 5 weeks and has a contact period of 200 hours, Monday – Friday: (8:00am – 5:00pm) with a class size of 12.

Mode of Delivery

  • Each trainee will be issued with a comprehensive training manual, as well as, hand tools and power tools required to do all practical tasks

  • Classroom Presentation - using PowerPoint and Visual Aids Practical hands on Sessions

  • Use of audio/videos to demonstrate current industry practices

  • One-to-one instruction and team-building exercises in groups

  • Discussion and feedback from participants during each topic forms an important element of the learning process

Learning Objectives

On successful completion of this course each trainee will have a comprehensive understanding of the following:

  • Three phase supplies and Distribution Boards

  • Induction motors, both single and three phase

  • Magnetism

  • Capacitance

  • Transformers

  • Motor control panels and motor control circuits

  • Industrial wiring

  • Be able to use associated electrical test equipment and fault find

COURSE CONTENT/TOPICS

On successful completion of this course each trainee will have a comprehensive understanding of the following:

  1. Magnetism & Electromagnetism

  2. Capacitance, alternating current and transformers

  3. Induction motor, single phase and three phase

  4. Three-Phase Distribution Board & Socket Circuits

  5. Motor control and Industrial circuits

  6. Install: Three phase distribution board and all associated protective devices

  7. Motor control panel, wire various motor control circuits

  8. Industrial circuits including PIR and Photo cell control of lighting circuits

Assessment

This course is assessed through a multiple-choice examination, as well as a competency based practical examination

Certificate

On successful completion of this course, learners will receive a certificate accredited by the CPD Certificate Service, a UK accrediting body
